The Township of Black River-Matheson is identifying its advantages in order to promote economic development.

Through the support of the Northern Communities Investment Readiness Program (NCIR) the community is completing a broad-based asset inventory identifying infrastructure, labour skills and other data that will assist in developing an economic development strategy.

QUICK FACTS

  • The province is providing $10,000 through the Northern Communities Investment Readiness (NCIR) program to support this project.
  • Black River-Matheson is made up of the communities of Matheson, Ramore, Val Gagne, Holtyre and Shillington and other outlying townships.
  • To date, more than $1.9 million in NCIR funding has been approved for more than 200 initiatives across the North.
