$441,000 Awarded To The Timiskaming-Cochrane Area For Road Repairs McGuinty Government Provides Funding To Ensure Stronger Roads for a Safer Future

Ontario has provided approximately $441,000 to the Timiskaming-Cochrane area for improvements to Government Road (Highway 66) from Main Street to Oakes Avenue in the town of Kirkland Lake.

Improvements made to this roadway will create a safer commute for drivers and the surrounding communities.

Funding for this project is made possible through the Ontario government’s Connecting Link program, which was announced in the 2009 Budget. The Connecting Link program enables municipalities to repair roadways which connect two ends of a provincial highway through an urban area.

Some key features of the Connecting Link program include:

§$15 million in funding to municipalities for road and bridge repairs

§A total of 26 projects will receive funding from the Connecting Link program.
