Building Canada Fund – Communities Component Announcements Improving Infrastructure in Ontario's Communities

Today David Ramsay, MPP for Timiskaming – Cochrane, announced grants totalling $ 9,280,801.00 as the Provincial Government’s share of the Building Canada Fund – Communities Component.

The grant will be matched by the Federal Government and the Municipalities to produce

$ 27,842,403.00 worth of infrastructure projects in 20 municipalities throughout the riding of Timiskaming-Cochrane.

“This major expenditure of government money will help stabilise our economy during these trying times” said Timiskaming-Cochrane MPP David Ramsay. “Besides creating jobs” Ramsay also stated “these projects will contribute to a better quality of life for our residents and help with the economic development.”

QUICK FACTS

·This program was open to municipalities with under 100,000 population and projects had to be “shovel ready” within 6 months.

·The projects were approved by a joint secretariat involving both the federal and provincial government.
