Ontariois continuing to help young northerners prepare for the future by investing in career-related work placements in Timiskaming-Cochrane.
The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) has made new investments of nearly $4.3 million in 218 internship and co-op work placements, including 10 in Timiskaming-Cochrane. With over $230,000 being invested in Timiskaming-Cochrane, the community of Haileybury will receive 3 internships, the towns of Cochrane and Kirkland Lake will each receive 2 intern placements, while the communities of Larder Lake and Sturgeon falls will both receive 1 placement each, for a total of 10 placements. These on-the-job training opportunities provide experience to young northerners seeking to launch and build their careers in the North.

QUICK FACTS
·The Youth Internship and Co-op Program provides a wage subsidy to help northern employers invest in training young people and preparing them for future employment in the North. Since launching the program in 2005, the province’s has provided more than$20.9 million for 1,071 placements.
·Through this program, young northerners receive work placements in fields as diverse as television production, nursing, accounting, engineering and information technology.
