Ontario, June 26, 2009 — Timmins James Bay will benefit from joint federal and provincial funding to improve community recreational infrastructure, announced today under the Recreational Infrastructure Canada program in Ontario (RInC Ontario) and Recreation Ontario (Ontario REC).

These projects will provide stimulus to the local economy through investments that will spur construction activity related to recreational infrastructure. Improving recreational facilities and services will also encourage higher levels of participation in physical activity and community building.

“We are pleased to work with our provincial partners to deliver funding that will create jobs and make a difference in the lives of residents throughout northern Ontario,” said Rickford. “These projects will bring communities together to get fit and have fun, as well as create local jobs, something this government is committed to doing.” said MP Greg Rickford.”

“This funding helps us improve the health of our communities by investing in critical sport infrastructure. In doing this we increase the quality of lives for Northern Ontarians” said MPP David Ramsay.
